FAQs

What is the difference between an 8-channel and 12-channel pipette?
The choice depends on your microplate orientation; an 8-channel pipette is designed for row-wise filling of 96-well plates, while a 12-channel model allows you to process entire columns at once for faster high-throughput workflows.
Can I use regular pipette tips with a multichannel pipette?
It is best to use universal-fit or specialized multichannel tips to ensure a uniform airtight seal across all nozzles; consistent tip fit is critical for achieving equal aspiration volumes across every channel simultaneously.
How often should multichannel pipettes be calibrated?
Professional calibration is recommended every 6 to 12 months, but users should perform routine leak tests weekly to ensure that no individual channel has deviated from the set volume, which could compromise plate consistency.
Are multichannel pipettes more ergonomic than single-channel models?
Modern multichannel pipettes feature low-force aspiration and soft-touch tip ejection specifically designed to reduce hand fatigue and the risk of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) during intensive microplate tasks.
What are the primary applications for multichannel pipettes?
They are the industry standard for high-throughput applications such as ELISA, PCR/qPCR plate preparation, serial dilutions, and large-scale cell culture media exchanges where speed and uniformity are essential.
